Windows Embedded Compact 2013 released!

Hi folks,

Today Windows Embedded Compact 2013, the successor of Windows Embedded Compact 7, was released!

So what new in Windows Embedded Compact 2013:
  • Platform Builder is now a plug in for Visual Studio 2012
  • Application development (native and managed) in Visual Studio 2012
  • Current ARM and x86 compilers
  • Supported CPU architectures: ARM v 7 Thumb 2, x86
  • Due to the usage of the new compilers and the kernel core improvements ARM architectures prior to ARM v 6 Thumb 2 have been deprecated
  • Improved file system performance
  • Improved kernel performance
  • 2 second boot is possible
  • OS streamlining
  • .NET Compact Framework 3.9
  • Silverlight for Windows Embedded, now simply called XAML performance improvements
  • XAML development in Blend 5
